As Christians, we already have everything we need to be great successes in God’s kingdom, but most of us are rendered incapable of doing such, because we are still living in old life thinking!
John 21 – The disciples, the spiritual leaders of a generation of faith and even though Jesus has appeared to them a number of times after his resurrection, they are struggling to work out who they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to be and so they go fishing! We often struggle to step into the place we are meant to be in as Christians because we don’t understand the times we are living in, because of Christ.
We are His sons and daughters, blessed with “spiritual blessing”. This means that in Christ we have all the benefits of knowing God – being chosen for salvation, being adopted as His children, forgiveness, insight, the gifts of the Spirit, power to do God’s will, the hope of living forever with Christ. Eph 1: 1-5
Live for the right ‘BECAUSE’
If we don’t understand the ‘because’ of Christ and what it means we will keep living the ‘because of me’ life, because of brokenness, because of failure, etc
Your love for the wrong thing will cause you fall into the trap of living for the wrong ‘because’ – just look at Sampson & Delilah in Judges 16.
We need to let our mind be changed and decide that we are ready to live by the right BECAUSE. Romans 12.1-2
Christians should live in the world, but not be filled with it. A ship lives in the water; but if the water gets into the ship, she goes to the bottom. So Christians may live in the world; but if the world gets into them, they sink. Dwight L. Mood
Because of Christ – I am, because of His blood – I can, because of His power – I will, because of His anointing – I Do… none of this is reliant on me, it’s all because of Him!
Life says’, it’s because of what you are, what you can do, what you are capable of, what others think about you, etc. But in this Christian life and Kingdom grace space, it’s because of Jesus. We need to let grace convince us and impact us and change our thinking.
For the ‘because’ in your life to change, you need to have the reality of the cross hit you and bring change to your thinking. Not only does your heart need to be saved, our heads need to be saved and for most of us need, our mouths to be saved also! There has to be an ongoing work of grace to our whole being. Christianity isn’t a Sunday practice.
all that is within me needs to get saved, to get changed, to get on board with God, because of who He is – I am Ps 103:1
1 Peter 2:9- 12 Your because changes your belonging and your becoming and your behaving etc. Life challenges confront us with choices and decisions which make us hesitate and fail to commit, and we can be trapped in the wrong ‘because’. Because I like this, because I want to be happy, because it feels good, because it makes me worthwhile…
To step out of brokenness, or frustration or limited living you need to position yourself in the right kingdom ‘because’ – to make up your mind, to start declaring “Because of God’s great love for me, I am not consumed by what life says, or does, or thinks.
His faithfulness is my Because!
