“In the same way that You gave Me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world.” John 17:18 (MSG)
“The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me”- Acts 20:24 (NCV)
This could change your life today in Jesus name – Your greatest message is not what you say, or what you think you do, it’s who you are.
We have to stop striving for position in life and start living mission in life.
Now we can all choose to be part of the church – well I choose to come when it suits me, I choose to give when it’s convenient, I choose to support when it’s something that benefits me – let’s talk truth today…
MOST PEOPLE WANT TO BE A PERSON OF POSITION RATHER THAN A PERSON ON A MISSION.
We are called to become. Is that all we think it is – a position in the church, or the community, or status that helps us compare our self with others or a mission of the church? NO it’s a mission of the Kingdom. Some people are so focused on the position that they lose sight of the mission. They think God is a talent agency. They think God is a booking agent. They are trying to pray to God to get them in a better position. People want a better job so they can have a better position, people want a different life partner so they can change position, people want to win the lottery so they can change position, they want life to be different, better. “If only” is all about position in life.
God is more worried about your mission than he is your position, and this might shock some people, but your position in life is actually linked to your mission, not the other way around.
GOD KNOWS POSITION MEANS NOTHING IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND MISSION.
Now, if you understand the mission, God will change your position to accomplish His mission.
“Paul – called to be” – 1 Corinthians 1, Ephesians 1, Philippians 1, Colossians 1, 2 Tim 1. He’s on a mission, on a special assignment, The Message Bible says.
Our English word “mission” comes from the Latin word for “sending.” Being a Christian includes being sent into the world as a representative of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus clearly understood his life mission on earth. At age 12 he said, “I must be about my Father’s business”, (His mission assignment for me), and 21 years later, dying on the cross, He said, “It is finished.” Like bookends, these two statements frame a well-lived, purpose-driven life. He completed the mission the Father gave Him.
I was challenged of the Holy Spirit to remind you that God has given you every talent, every gift, every resource, every door open, every favour, every dollar you’ve ever made, every favour you’ve ever had with anybody, not because He was interested in you being important. He has given it to you because He wants to trust you with the mission, not the position.
It’s time to live mission and stop worrying about position. God didn’t save you to get you into a different or a better position, He saved you to set you and to send you on His mission.
Say it out loud now – “I’m set and sent”
ARE YOU READY TO BECOME PART OF THE MISSION?
